Almost 29 weeks!

Hello Third Trimester!!!

Yay! Today marks 28 weeks - the official start of the third trimester!  Things have been going considerably well since I last updated.

Size of baby: Baby boy weighs about 2.5 pounds and is around 16 inches long.

Symptoms: Still feeling pretty good.  I have some back pain that comes and goes in the middle of my back, right underneath the left shoulder blade.  I also have a little bit of lower back pain that sends some shooting pains down my butt.  I seem to feel these the most after a long day at work.  I'm also surprised to see that my ankles have started to swell (especially on warm days).  I don't have an ankle bone by the end of the day - hello cankles!

Weight Gain:  +29 lbs (since 11 weeks)  Am I worried about my weight gain? NOT ONE BIT!  I've waited so long to be pregnant, I could care less about the extra pounds.  My mom loves teasing me about my new chubby cheeks. :)

Cravings: Fruit smoothies for breakfast & barbecue chips to complement my sandwich for lunch.  NO cravings whatsoever for dinner.

Aversions: Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing, Caprese salads, and Lobster Bisque.

Sleep: Still trying hard to stay sleeping on my sides.  I'm waking up to pee 2-3 times a night.  I'm liking a pillow in between my legs more than my body pillow.

Maternity Clothes: New favorite maternity shop - Preggers Maternity in Chicago.  I found my shower dress there!  The weather is really starting to warm up here so next thing on the shopping list is SHORTS and SKIRTS.

What I Miss: This one will not change - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

What I'm Looking Forward To: The month of JUNE!  Work Shower on June 6th, Birthing Classes that start June 7th, Maternity photos June 18th, and Family/Friends Shower on June 23rd.

Special Pregnancy Moments: I passed my glucose test!  I love how my little girls at school talk to the baby.  He gets MANY hugs every day - so cute!

Bump Update: This isn't your traditional bump pic, but all I have for 28 weeks.  This was taken Mother's Day of me relaxing at the pool after my spa treatment.  :)

Add 2 more days?!?!

24 weeks! We had our check-up with my doctor this past Tuesday. It was just a routine appointment - listened to the heart beat, left a urine sample, and measured my growing belly. She measured from the top of my uterus to the top of my pelvic bone and I was 24 cm, which was exactly on par. She said using this measurement, I should be as many centimeters as I am weeks pregnant. The heartbeat was nice and strong and happy that my thyroid levels came back in the normal range. Next appointment will be May 15th and will be the Glucose test. We also found out that after my Anatomy Scan at 20 weeks, my doctor had changed our due date from August 6th to August 8th, which means my week to week turning point is now on Wednesdays instead of Mondays.

This was the first week in the pregnancy where I felt the physical effects.  This could be due to a very long work week.  We had parent teacher conferences on Tuesday and Thursday, so I was at school for 12 hours both of those days.  Or maybe the extra 23 pounds I'm carrying is starting to catch up to me! Yes, you read that correctly - I've gained 23 lbs since my first OB appt.  My doctor was not worried about it one bit and pointed out that I was a bit underweight to begin with and looking healthy now, so I have the go to keep on eating! :) I am not worried about my weight gain one bit - the ONLY thing I care about is a healthy baby!!!

In other news, we had a fantastic getaway to Chicago two weekends ago with my sister and a family friend. We stayed at a really nice hotel called The Wit and had our share of fine dining in the city. We spent ALL day on Saturday visiting baby stores and made quite a great deal of progress.

We:
- fell in love with The Land of Nod and picked out our nursery furniture there
- decided to register at The Land of Nod and buybuy Baby
- started working on our registry
- decided on the nursery theme/colors
- picked out the bedding

To top it off, our family friend bought the first item off of the registry - our car seat! We picked out the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio in Paloma. Here it is:
Hope everyone is doing well! Please keep my dear friend Palm Trees & Rainy Days in your prayers as she is in the middle of an IVF treatment. Sending lots of love & well wishes dear!

R & D at 23 weeks

R & D is my hubby's new favorite phrase - Research & Development. Hubby has been researching every single item that we need for the arrival of baby boy. He spends hours reading reviews and looking over consumer reports on strollers, car seats, carriers, cribs, breast pumps, etc. Can I just say this makes me love him even more? I really am grateful that he is so involved and ecstatic about these upcoming purchases. He even started our registries! We have a weekend get-away planned this weekend to Chicago to check out some more product in person. I'm excited to stop at Pottery Barn Kids, Galt Baby, and The Land of Nod.

Size of baby: Baby boy weighs about as much as a large mango -- just over a pound. (Length: more than 11 inches.)

Symptoms: I am feeling pretty good! The only thing I have noticed is that I am tired much earlier in the day. By the time 1:00/2:00 in the afternoon hits, I am beat.

Cravings: My appetite has definitely picked up - although I wouldn't say I have any specific cravings.

Aversions: Fast food.

Sleep: I've definitely grown accustomed to just sleeping on my sides. However, my hips are paying the price. I wake up every morning with very sore hips. I have a pregnancy pillow - but it seems too big and I find myself getting uncomfortable fast when I use it. Once I get up, stretch, and move around - my hips do feel better. So its not causing me an ongoing pain - which is good.

Maternity Clothes: Definitely. I've become a bit sick of the first round of maternity clothes that was purchased. I think it's time to add some fresh, spring colors to the wardrobe. My favorite maternity shops are A Pea in the Pod and GAP Maternity. I've purchased a few tops/dresses from Target and the fit & quality is just not there.

What I Miss: Absolutely nothing!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Viability Milestone next week and a check-up with the doctor.

Special Pregnancy Moments: At 22 weeks, hubby was able to feel the lil guy move from the outside for the first time. This was one of the most special moments for us so far. It made me so happy to see my husband's face light up every time he felt a kick.

One day after I turned 23 weeks, we were laying in bed and I commented on how hard baby boy was kicking. I pulled up my shirt and we could actually see the kicks from the outside! SO amazing!

Bump Update: This was taken mid-way through Week 22. The sun is kind of blinding me and the bump, but it will have to do. :)

Anatomy Scan w/Pictures

Our anatomy scan last week Tuesday was AMAZING! I was so nervous walking into the appt, just praying that our lil one was developing on track and healthy. We are thrilled that the appointment went very well and that HE is looking wonderful. Yes, you read that correctly - we're having a baby BOY! :)

The ultrasound tech was very informative. She started with his head/brain and worked her way down measuring all the body parts and organs. I really appreciated how after looking at each organ she would assure us that it looked normal and healthy. At the time, he weighed 13 ounces and she said he was on track be a full pound by 22 weeks!

The doctor met with us right after the ultrasound and assured us baby boy was doing very well. Baby boy is in the 66th percentile - which she said was perfect, means he's growing right on track - not too slow and not too fast - just right. She also said she didn't foresee me being at any risk for premature labor, which yes sounds reassuring, but yet I still find myself worrying non stop! I asked her when will I have my next ultrasound, already anticipating seeing baby boy again. She said "You won't have another one." What?!?!?! Ahhhhh, just check-ups from here on out! She said they only do more ultrasounds if they have concerns or if there are complications. So, I guess this is a good thing! Next appointment is April 17th!

And here are just a few of the 32 pics our ultrasound tech took for us...:)

I think this one is so cute with his little foot all the way up by his face - flexible lil guy.

Half Way!!!!

Tomorrow I will officially be 20 weeks - I really can't believe it. Things are going well and I am feeling GREAT! I have so much energy back now and I've actually been able to stay up long enough for some of my favorite shows at night. :) I am feeling movement daily and usually multiple times throughout the day. The round ligament pain has been more sporadic lately. I've been getting great amounts of sleep, although I wake up with a sore back every morning. I'm still not used to only sleeping on my sides. I think it's time to invest in some sort of pregnancy/body pillow. Recommendations are welcomed!

I am super anxious and NERVOUS for our big Anatomy Scan coming up this Tuesday. I am just praying so hard that this lil one is nice and healthy!!! I'm also praying for all my friends that have recently found out they are pregnant and those that are starting new cycles. Love you all!

I'll leave you with the 20 week bumpdate...we were blessed with some amazing summer-like temps here in Milwaukee this past weekend - 80 degrees and sunshine both days...in MARCH?!?!

18 Weeks

Tomorrow I will officially be 18 weeks!! The weeks have actually been flying by and we're getting closer and closer to our Anatomy Scan on the 20th - can't wait! :)

Size of baby: About 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he/she weighs almost 7 ounces.

Symptoms: Week 17 was the first week that I didn't feel nauseous at all...which was refreshing! I'm still incredibly tired all the time, finding myself in bed by about 7:00 p.m. each night. The round ligament pain has started, especially when I get up in the morning.

Cravings: Shamrock Shakes

Aversions: I really thought I wanted a meatball sub yesterday...so sent hubby off to Subway for me. When he returned with it, I took one bite and then gagged. There goes lunch.

Sleep: Definitely sleeping much better now. I do wake up a few times through the night to make sure I am sleeping on one of my sides. Most of the time, I already am - but every once in a while I wake up and need to re-position myself.

Maternity Clothes: Yes! I don't fit into any of my regular pants anymore.

What I Miss: Absolutely nothing!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Finding out the gender on March 20th!

Special Pregnancy Moments: At 16w6d I felt the baby for the first time. We were in the car on the way to breakfast and I literally made hubby pull the car over on the side of the road. I usually feel him/her now at least once a day and only when I am laying or sitting down. I'm looking forward to the movements becoming stronger as the weeks progress. I had read so many blogs about what it was "supposed" to feel like - yet to me, it's really indescribable. I'd say the closest analogy I can come up with is that it's like popcorn popping in your tummy! :) I knew for sure it was movement that I was feeling because it is something I have never, ever felt before.

I'm still using the doppler and very proud to say that I'm only using it every other day now. This next week we're going to try to move to once every three days. I am slowly trying to wean myself off of it.

I allowed my husband to tag a picture of me on FB that shows off my bump. I didn't officially announce it on FB yet, so this was a HUGE step for me. I have received lots of messages and texts saying "Um, is there something you need to tell me?!?!?" :)

Bumpdate: I have had a few requests for some belly shots - so here they are.
