Add 2 more days?!?!

24 weeks! We had our check-up with my doctor this past Tuesday. It was just a routine appointment - listened to the heart beat, left a urine sample, and measured my growing belly. She measured from the top of my uterus to the top of my pelvic bone and I was 24 cm, which was exactly on par. She said using this measurement, I should be as many centimeters as I am weeks pregnant. The heartbeat was nice and strong and happy that my thyroid levels came back in the normal range. Next appointment will be May 15th and will be the Glucose test. We also found out that after my Anatomy Scan at 20 weeks, my doctor had changed our due date from August 6th to August 8th, which means my week to week turning point is now on Wednesdays instead of Mondays.

This was the first week in the pregnancy where I felt the physical effects.  This could be due to a very long work week.  We had parent teacher conferences on Tuesday and Thursday, so I was at school for 12 hours both of those days.  Or maybe the extra 23 pounds I'm carrying is starting to catch up to me! Yes, you read that correctly - I've gained 23 lbs since my first OB appt.  My doctor was not worried about it one bit and pointed out that I was a bit underweight to begin with and looking healthy now, so I have the go to keep on eating! :) I am not worried about my weight gain one bit - the ONLY thing I care about is a healthy baby!!!

In other news, we had a fantastic getaway to Chicago two weekends ago with my sister and a family friend. We stayed at a really nice hotel called The Wit and had our share of fine dining in the city. We spent ALL day on Saturday visiting baby stores and made quite a great deal of progress.

We:
- fell in love with The Land of Nod and picked out our nursery furniture there
- decided to register at The Land of Nod and buybuy Baby
- started working on our registry
- decided on the nursery theme/colors
- picked out the bedding

To top it off, our family friend bought the first item off of the registry - our car seat! We picked out the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio in Paloma. Here it is:
Hope everyone is doing well! Please keep my dear friend Palm Trees & Rainy Days in your prayers as she is in the middle of an IVF treatment. Sending lots of love & well wishes dear!

R & D at 23 weeks

R & D is my hubby's new favorite phrase - Research & Development. Hubby has been researching every single item that we need for the arrival of baby boy. He spends hours reading reviews and looking over consumer reports on strollers, car seats, carriers, cribs, breast pumps, etc. Can I just say this makes me love him even more? I really am grateful that he is so involved and ecstatic about these upcoming purchases. He even started our registries! We have a weekend get-away planned this weekend to Chicago to check out some more product in person. I'm excited to stop at Pottery Barn Kids, Galt Baby, and The Land of Nod.

Size of baby: Baby boy weighs about as much as a large mango -- just over a pound. (Length: more than 11 inches.)

Symptoms: I am feeling pretty good! The only thing I have noticed is that I am tired much earlier in the day. By the time 1:00/2:00 in the afternoon hits, I am beat.

Cravings: My appetite has definitely picked up - although I wouldn't say I have any specific cravings.

Aversions: Fast food.

Sleep: I've definitely grown accustomed to just sleeping on my sides. However, my hips are paying the price. I wake up every morning with very sore hips. I have a pregnancy pillow - but it seems too big and I find myself getting uncomfortable fast when I use it. Once I get up, stretch, and move around - my hips do feel better. So its not causing me an ongoing pain - which is good.

Maternity Clothes: Definitely. I've become a bit sick of the first round of maternity clothes that was purchased. I think it's time to add some fresh, spring colors to the wardrobe. My favorite maternity shops are A Pea in the Pod and GAP Maternity. I've purchased a few tops/dresses from Target and the fit & quality is just not there.

What I Miss: Absolutely nothing!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Viability Milestone next week and a check-up with the doctor.

Special Pregnancy Moments: At 22 weeks, hubby was able to feel the lil guy move from the outside for the first time. This was one of the most special moments for us so far. It made me so happy to see my husband's face light up every time he felt a kick.

One day after I turned 23 weeks, we were laying in bed and I commented on how hard baby boy was kicking. I pulled up my shirt and we could actually see the kicks from the outside! SO amazing!

Bump Update: This was taken mid-way through Week 22. The sun is kind of blinding me and the bump, but it will have to do. :)
